CZM EK240 Drilling Rig

Base:

The foundation of the EK240 is the new Cat 340 Next Gen, which runs on a fuel-efficient Tier 4 Final C9.1 ACERT engine. This power base is complemented by CAT Vision Link, a system that enables management to remotely monitor machine operations and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reduced downtime.

Undercarriage:

The EK240’s undercarriage is a Caterpillar variable model VH5000/4300/800, supported by a reinforced H style frame that provides a sturdy and reliable platform for drilling operations.

Mast:

A high resistance steel Weldox 700 mast reinforces the EK240, giving it the strength to withstand the rigors of drilling, especially when utilizing the Bottom Drive CFA method.

Main Winch:

The main winch is engineered with a special groove to facilitate better cable winding, thereby extending the cable’s lifespan. It includes a press-roller and offers two gears for a balance of high speed and substantial pulling force. The winch features automatic gear shifting for smooth operation and high production, as well as an automatic down-the-hole winch stop. During crowd operations, the winch operates freely, with both hydraulic and mechanical brakes for safety. The cabin’s display of hydraulic pulling force measurements keeps the operator fully informed.

Rotary:

The EK240’s rotary is designed for resilience, with two slewing bearings at both the top and bottom, and a robust pinion and main gear. It houses two groups of Hydraulic Motor / Planetary Gears for exceptional torque and extended service life. The system is equipped with anti-cavitation, anti-shock, and a cooling system to ensure the hydraulic motors last longer. A power-shift feature allows for a high spin-off speed, facilitating efficient soil discharge. With three operational and spinoff speeds, the rotary is optimized for both high torque and rapid speeds. The operator can easily monitor torque via the hydraulic measurement display in the cabin.

Cab:

The cab of the EK240 is designed with the operator’s comfort and safety in mind, featuring an AM/FM Radio, air conditioning, heating, and ROPS certification with top protection. An LCD monitor connects to the engine and hydraulics computer, providing a comprehensive diagnostic system. The CZM Canbus System for Drilling Monitoring, complete with auto functions, further enhances drilling precision and efficiency.
